Managing Compliance

Stay on top of mandatory compliance requirements. RentFig tracks electrical (EICR), gas safety, and EPC certificates with automated reminders for upcoming renewals.

Getting Started

  1. Upload EICR certificates — Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR) are required every 5 years for rental properties. Upload the certificate and RentFig will remind you before expiry.
  2. Track gas safety certificates — If your property has gas, upload annual gas safety certificates. RentFig flags properties without current certificates.
  3. Maintain EPC ratings — Every property needs a valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). Upload it to your compliance file.
  4. Use the built-in categories — Gas Safety, EICR, EPC, Fire Risk Assessment, HMO Licence, Legionella Risk Assessment and PAT Testing are all built in, and you can add your own custom categories for anything else your portfolio needs.
  5. Set renewal reminders — A daily sweep checks every certificate and emails you before it expires — 14 days ahead by default. Change the notice period, or turn reminders off, under Settings → Reminders.
  6. Download certificates — All uploaded certificates are stored securely and can be downloaded or shared with tenants as needed.
  7. View compliance status — The compliance dashboard shows a quick overview of all your properties and their certification status.

Common Questions

What happens if I don't have a valid gas safety certificate?

Properties with gas heating require annual gas safety certificates. Failure to maintain this can result in fines and legal issues. RentFig will alert you if one is missing.

How far in advance do I need to renew certificates?

We recommend renewing at least one month before expiry to avoid gaps. By default RentFig emails you 14 days before a certificate expires; you can increase that notice period under Settings → Reminders if you want longer to arrange the work.

Can I upload certificates for past years?

Yes, you can upload historical certificates. RentFig will track the expiry date for each to help you stay compliant.
