Managing Properties

Properties are the foundation of RentFig. Store all your rental properties here, manage sub-units, track compliance documents, and organize your portfolio.

Getting Started

  1. Add a new property — Click 'Add Property' and enter the address, property type (residential, commercial, or mixed use), and optional details like square footage or council tax band.
  2. Assign to a portfolio — Select or create a portfolio to organize properties by investment group, location, or other criteria.
  3. Add tenancies — Once created, add tenants to the property by creating tenancies. Each property can have multiple tenancies over time.
  4. Upload compliance documents — Store electrical (EICR), gas safety, and EPC certificates directly on the property record for easy access.
  5. Track maintenance requests — View all maintenance history for the property, including completed work and outstanding repairs.
  6. Manage sub-units — If your property is divided into multiple units (e.g., HMO rooms), use the Sub-units tab on the property record to add and manage each unit individually.

Common Questions

Can I delete a property?

A property with no tenancies or financial history is deleted outright. If it has either, RentFig archives it instead of deleting it so your accounting records stay intact — archiving is reversible, so you can restore it later.

How do I organize properties by location or investment type?

Use portfolios to group properties. You can create multiple portfolios and assign properties to each one for easy organization.

What information is required to add a property?

Only the address is required. Other details like property type, area, council tax band, and notes are optional but recommended for better organization.
